My Nominations for the 2016 Clawbies Awards

December 2016

I’m sure you’re wondering, what on earth is a Clawbie? Sounds a bit like a Pokémon Go character, doesn’t it?

No, the Clawbies are the Canadian Law Blog Awards. Bloggers are invited annually to nominate their favourite legal blogs that kept them informed and entertained throughout the year.

Law blogs are a great way to learn about new developments in Canada’s constantly-changing immigration laws. Twitter is an excellent tool, but you can only learn so much from 140 characters. Also, getting information off of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s website is sometimes about as easy as finishing a 2000-piece puzzle. Blogs, which are informal and educational, are the best of both worlds.

So, without further delay, here are my nominations for the 2016 Clawbies Awards:

  1. Liz’s Blog

It’s a breath of fresh air to read this blog. It’s run by Elizabeth Wozniak who practises in Halifax at North Start Immigration Law. Her last title “Come to Canada and Bring Hawaii Please” was priceless.

  2. Russ Weninger’s Immigration Newsletter

Based out of Calgary, Alberta, Russ presents his ideas in an original format, and provides a ton of information in a concise way. To see what I’m talking about, here’s one of his newsletters called “5-Nugget Friday”.

  3. Capelle Kane Blog

Capelle Kane is a leading specialist in this field. I practise in the same city (Ottawa) as authors Tamara Mosher-Kuczer, Betsy Cane and Philippe Capelle, and they’re always on top of the latest news in immigration law. Are you still confused about the most recent Express Entry changes? Check out this blog post.

You’ve got a lot of reading to do, but I promise it’ll will be fun!

Have a great holiday and I’ll “see” you again in the New Year.
